Spin Me Like a Record: Hyper Crush in Chicago.

Sacrifice was the theme of the night. What are you willing to do make your dreams come true? Some say follow your heart and you will find what you are looking for. Others say follow your head and you will never go wrong. I say follow the music and party like it's the last day of your fucking life and you won't miss a thing. The mood was set with goggles that glowed and paint that reflected neon colors off the bodies of Hyper Crush fans. It was Friday night and I was at Enclave in Chicago. The West Coast flavor was rocking the minds of the cool Midwest kids that wanted their taste of The Electro Movement. The underground looking entrance of Enclave had red Street Lights glowing down on their Agent Smith looking security guards. San Francisco Bay producers The Cataracts pumped up the crowd and I had yet another front row position where you could literally feel the bass bumping in your sneakers. The Cataracs were impressive and I found myself throwing my hands up in the air during their short set. The three microphones were set up and it was time to get Hyper. The real fans present company included were up front and center when the fog and lights took a life of their own. The shows started off with the Hyper Crush remix to Usher's DJ Got Us Falling in Love. I no longer felt under-dressed like I did months prior at the Usher concert. I was feeling good. This was the Hyper Crush experience lights, lasers, sounds, and most importantly passionate fans. I was rocking my Green Lantern ring as always and I am proud to say Holly gave it the first fist bump of the night. The set was about 45 minutes in duration but I still broke a sweat while I was trying to Keep Up with Donny lyrically. They performed a new song that the crowd got behind relatively quickly. Preston started sparked up a cigarette I was impressed. It was quire rebellious disobey the bullshit smoking laws. Right on to Preston! I got a little nervous when my favorite prop was missing from the show. Holly brought out this metal suitcase and I started smile. I already knew what was inside and I started to think in my head wouldn't it be cool if the suitcase glowed like in Pulp Fiction. YES! The suitcase glowed and YES! Donny's Power glove covered in lights was officially part of the show. I felt new life when Donny's Power Glove and my Green Lantern Ring combined forces and became one power source with bump of the hands. Preston was rocking the red Lazar knuckle glove as he slammed the key board. The heart and soul of Hyper Crush comes from the girl in the neon visor. Holly rocked denim L.A. Gear Jacket like Kanye West rocks Louis Vuitton. It isn't hard to fall in love with Holly when she is performing. Her voice brought butterflies to stomach when she spit, My Style My Sway. I was clinging to her every word. My favorite tracks of the night were ROBOTECH, Keep Up, and Bullet Proof. The crowd and Holly sung most of Bullet Proof that built up to Donny's rap on the remix. The fans in Chicago were following the songs word for word just like me. Hyper Crush is right on the verge of major super-stardom. I actually started to get sad when the show was over because of the unanswered questions in my heart. Will I ever be this close to this group again? The level of intimacy with fan’s emotions and reactions during the show was a rarity that was had to be acknowledged. I wanted to say mission accomplished but there is still work to do. I was able to meet The Kid Next Door who to me screamed Generation Undefined on the surface. This kid not only had definition but has the video to back up it up. Check out his amazing video of the show to reveal his secret identity. The Kid Next Door tipped me off that the Hyper Crush was mingling with the fans of Enclave. The small group that I invited out to the event had a great time and after the show I focused my attention on them as well as the hot girl dancing on the box. I wasn't trying to find Hyper Crush even though the journalistic part of me had a few questions still dancing around. I told someone the night before some of my best moments in life have happened by accident. My surprise ending was true to those words. My mindset was it's time to go. I was ready to take my memories home and write about them. I was getting close to the exit noticed Donny and Holly were being pushed out with everyone else. Donny asked me, "What's your name." I introduced myself as the 8R8 and explained that to him that I write about the group. Holly said she noticed me up front and then we just talked like real people. I asked the question, when will they be releasing a new LP or Mixtape. Holly said, "Honestly it is just a matter of when the record company puts it out”...We have 25 new tracks ready go." She explained they will keep putting out remixes to give the fans something. You can see a little frustration on her faced when she talked about the situation but I didn't really dig into the matter. She spoke about a possible mixtape to let the fans know they are working. Her message to fans was, "Please be patient." I hope I left her with the impression that the fans that have been following them from the beginning aren't going anywhere because we believe in Hyper Crush. I gave my sad lip and told her that I think the next time I see you perform you will be intangible. Holly reassured me, "We will always be close to the fans that have been there." I started to think about how much this group has sacrificed to get it where they are today. I could only spin theories of their struggle so I won't. The truth is this they are a group that is very real on and off stage. They care about their fans more than I ever imagined. They inspired me on this night and reassured me that following your dreams is worth every sacrifice on the road to making them reality. It was an amazing night.
